Privacy on demand in Healthcare: Our Latest Project at Portage District General Hospital, City of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba

​We’re excited to share a recent project we completed in collaboration with Border Glass at Portage District General Hospital in Manitoba. Our privacy glass was installed in key areas within the hospital, where privacy and functionality are paramount. ​The privacy glass was installed in ICU exam/treatment rooms, using the Stanley Dura Care 7500 telescopic sliding doors. The privacy glass was also installed in ICU isolation rooms using the Stanley Dura Care 7400 swing door within a Kawneer 450 storefront frame. 

 

This glass transitions from opaque to clear at the push of a button, offering both privacy for patients and ease of use for healthcare professionals. In critical areas like ICU rooms, privacy glass is more than just a luxury—it’s an essential part of the design. It allows medical staff to maintain patient privacy while still keeping visual access when necessary. This technology also helps minimize distractions, creating a more peaceful environment for patients to recover.

Our collaboration with Border Glass was key to making this project a success. Their expertise in glazing systems, combined with our smart glass solutions, ensured that Portage hospital received a high-quality, reliable product that met all healthcare standards.
